Young gun plans to shake up jewellery world, says Aussies have been paying too much

A 22-YEAR-OLD has been handed the Australian rights to America's largest online jewellery retailer and plans to take the Aussie jewellery world by storm.

Young gun Nick Molnar has convinced the CEO of ice.com to allow him to launch and establish the company here as the first ever online-only jewellery retailer in Australia.

Since it's launch in 1999, Ice.com has grown to more $50 million in sales per annum and has 71 employees.

Molnar says Australians have been paying far too much for their bling and plans to shake up the market by offering local customers precious quality necklaces, rings, earrings and bracelets at least 50 per cent lower than retail prices.

"Jewellery is the last retail category that isn’t being sold online here," says Molnar, the Southeast Asia and Pacific managing director. "None of the major retailers currently sell product online. Selling jewellery on eBay exposed that gap to me and IceOnline were the perfect partner to execute that in Australia."

Molnar says he was shocked that major bricks and mortar retailers like Angus & Coote, Prouds, Goldmark and Michael Hill are yet to tap into the online market.

He discovered this while selling jewellery on eBay and quickly becoming the biggest seller in the jewellery and watches category in Australia, all while he was still at university.

"It's exciting for us that they have been slow to catch on, but they definitely should be selling online,” he added.

Molnar is the son of jewellers Ron and Michele Molnar, who have owned the Sydney CBD jewellery store St Michel International for over 25 years.

IceOnline.com.au launched last month with 1500 products and the young CEO says he is aiming for sales in excess of $200,000 during December, the company’s first month of operation.

Their products range from less than $100 to $5000, with the average price being $200.

He says the most popular product sold online is a fashionable gemstone ring. A ring in silver with real diamonds and a gemstone retails for $135, while a similar product in white gold with real diamonds retails for $329.

Molnar says the products are cheap because the prices are sourced using Ice's name, a company that has regularly been named as one of America's Hot 100 retailers since its launch over ten years ago

The Strictly Come Dancing winner is the second member of the band to get married, after Tom Fletcher wed girlfriend Giovanna Falcone earlier in the year, leaving just Dougie Poynter and Danny Jones yet to settle down.

The former Escala star, who met her new husband when she performed in the string section during McFly's 2005 tour, seemed over the moon, writing on Twitter:

And, while Harry is yet to officially speak out about the wedding, his bandmate Tom decided to do it for him.

'Huge congrats to my best mate @mcflyharry for marrying the lovely @izzyeyesalight yesterday. The wedding was awesome. Another Mcfly down!' he wrote on the social networking site.

Tulisa had a pavement bust-up in Newcastle with a blonde clubber who dared to speak to her footballer boyfriend, it has been claimed.


The former N Dubz star, who was in the city to support her footballer boyfriend Danny Simpson during a match, reportedly had the bust-up with Sarah Ashton after she shouted his name.

Onlookers said Tulisa screamed abuse before bouncers hauled her away and led her to a taxi.

According to the reports, the singer became angry with the girls after they started shouting in the couple's direction and became confrontational.

But a spokesman for the singer told the paper that the couple were in fact 'minding their own business':

 

'Tulisa and Danny were minding their own business and as they left the club, two girls started shouting abuse at her. She ­responded and there was an ­argument but Tulisa didn’t ­threaten them. A ­doorman from the club led her to a taxi.'

The couple are then reported to have returned to Danny's pad after hopping into a taxi outside the club, which is well-known as a hangout for footballers.


Sarah originally made the claims about the popstar on her Twitter account, while a number of people seemed to corroborate her story.

While her friend Alex, also wrote about her astonishment at what had just happened:

He may be the world's fastest man, but Usain Bolt couldn't travel the 4,600 miles between Jamaica and England to keep his relationship with Megan Edwards alive.

The British office worker has announced her split from the Olympic Gold medalist, finding their long-distance too difficult to cope with.

And according to Megan, Usain was devastated.

After her last trip to the 100m champion's homeland, the Dartford girl called it quits: 'I got home I rang him and told him it wasn't going to work. I said the distance thing and not seeing him enough was a problem for me.'

As a junior athlete herself, Megan had a lot in common with the Jamaican sprinter.

So when the 22-year old was selected to work the catwalk in his national team's kit ahead of London 2012, it's no surprise that with her pretty face and runner's body, Usain couldn't keep his eyes off her.

His public persona is known for being outlandish and overly confident - understandable for an athlete who was the first ever to win both the 100m and 200m Olympic golds in consecutive tournaments.

However, when the London lass first got to know him, she discovered a far more modest side to Usain's personality: 'He was really sweet to talk to, nothing like the shouty show-off you see when her wins races.'

Shortly after Megan, who runs for Dartford Harriers Athletics Club, helped Usain celebrate his unprecedented track success in London, watching the star show his rapping and DJ-ing skills at a party on Brick Lane.

After that the millionaire athlete invited his girl to Jamaica to visit his family and experience life on the tropical island.

But as an office worker limited to five weeks holiday a year, using them all up on trips to see Usain was not a future she wanted to undertake.

So although the timing isn't right for the two now, the hopes of Megan to compete in Rio 2016 may very well mean their paths will cross again.
